[Play]ground: a Space for Exploration | Nov 18

For many contemporary Metal and Jewellery artists, their studio is their playground – a place to develop strength and challenge flexibility in their work, but also an escape for enjoyment and recreation.

[Play]ground is an exhibition that considers how play becomes an integral part of the creative process. For some, playful exploration and discovery are essential to their practice. For others, the playfulness is evident in their finished work.

We invite makers and metal smiths to consider their studio as a parallel place of creation. [Play]ground asks you to contemplate the grounds on which ‘play’ integrates into your work as an artist and as a creator. Risk is a part of playground activity – we invite contributors to experiment and take risks with ideas and materials that are unfamiliar to them – as play is as much discovery as it is enjoyment.
