Hello from VMAA's New President

Last Monday, the Vancouver Metal Arts Association’s board of directors voted me in as president for the remainder of the 2019–2020 term. It is a privilege to serve the membership, and I hope to hear from and/or meet you in the coming months.

My mission is to help VMAA harness partnerships and community to build resources, professional development and mentorship opportunities for our diverse network of jewellery and metal artists. Since much of my know-how stems from my communications career, until the next AGM, I will focus my efforts in the following areas:

  • Engaging members – to find out how VMAA can best serve you

  • Streamlining communications – to ensure you receive news and opportunities in a timely way

  • Developing VMAA’s partnership opportunities – so we can deliver more value for members

  • Activating digital platforms – so our community feels connected outside of physical events

  • Smoothing board transitions – so we may look forward to seamless transfers of knowledge, operations and leadership in future years

I’m pleased to report that with the board’s support, Vice-President Ange Adair and I have already made inroads into each field. As we proceed, please stay tuned for updates in your inbox and on social media.

On that note, if you haven’t already liked or followed the Facebook, Instagram, or (NEW!) LinkedIn pages, please ensure our posts and communications appear in your timeline and inboxes!

As we forge a way forward together, I hope to have the chance to speak to you, either online or in person, and learn about your jewellery and metal arts journey. If you have any ideas, questions or concerns, I invite you to reach out to me directly. My inbox is open to you.

I look forward to learning hearing from you about how we can make VMAA a great catalyst for Metro Vancouver’s jewellery arts community.

I hope you had a restful and rejuvenating weekend, and are ready to face the coming week.

President
