About the event

Come and spend a fun Saturday afternoon with Peggy Logan and the VMAA crew! Learn to fuse two different alloys together.

Fusing is a way of joining metal to metal together without using solder. Pellets, scraps, filings, and wire can be joined to a metal plate with heat. For example, fine silver fillings or pieces can be easily fused to a sterling silver plate because of the differences in melting points. Other combinations of metal which work well are gold to silver and red gold to yellow gold.

Fusing is an interesting way to decorate and create textured modern pieces of jewellery.

In this workshop, Peggy Logan will outline the materials needed for fusing. She will also demonstrate a  fusing exercise for you to try out in your own workshop.
